120,000-Ton/Year Rubber Wood Pellet Production Line in Thailand

Line Project

This is a 120,000-ton-per-year rubber wood pellet production plant designed and installed for a customer in Thailand. The factory consists of two production lines and uses rubber wood as the main raw material. With an initial moisture content of approximately 50%, the project focuses on efficient high-moisture material preparation, size reduction, drying and stable large-scale pellet production.

Project Information

Item Details
Raw Material Rubber Wood
Wet Material Moisture Approx. 50%
Annual Design Capacity Up to 120,000 Tons
Main Pellet Machines 6 × XGJ850 Pellet Machines
Final Product Biomass Fuel Pellets

Wood Chipper: Reducing the Size of Large Rubber Wood

After entering the plant, the rubber wood is continuously conveyed into the wood chipper by a vibrating conveyor. The wood chipper uses high-speed cutting to process large rubber wood into approximately 20 mm wood chips, creating suitable feed material for the downstream crushing process.

Pre-chipping reduces the processing load on the hammer mill and also makes the high-moisture wood easier to stack and naturally dry. For the rubber wood with approximately 50% initial moisture, this step helps remove part of the moisture before mechanical drying, reducing the drying load and overall energy consumption.

Hammer Mill: Further Reducing Wood Chip Size

After chipping, the rubber wood needs to be further reduced in size to meet the requirements of drying and pelletizing. Therefore, hammer mills are installed for secondary size reduction.

The wood chips are evenly fed into the hammer mill through a twin-shaft feeder. High-speed rotating hammers further process the chips into fine wood particles, creating suitable material conditions for the drying and pelletizing sections.

A metal removal system is also installed to remove metal contaminants from the material and reduce the risk of damage to critical equipment.

After crushing, the material passes through a rotary screen to control particle size and provide more uniform material for the drying system.

Large Rotary Drum Dryer: Handling High-Moisture Rubber Wood

The crushed wood particles enter the large rotary drum dryer, which is a key section for handling the high moisture content of the rubber wood.

With an initial moisture content of approximately 50%, natural drying alone cannot consistently achieve the moisture level required for pelletizing. Therefore, the project adopts a combination of natural evaporation + mechanical drying.

The material is first naturally dried during temporary storage to reduce part of the moisture. It then enters the rotary drum dryer, where the wood particles continuously tumble and come into contact with hot air, allowing excess moisture to be efficiently removed.

By reducing the moisture load before mechanical drying, the system helps control energy consumption while providing stable material conditions for pellet production.

Pellet Mills: Ensuring Stable and Efficient Pelletizing

After drying, the prepared wood particles enter the pelletizing section, where the pellet mills compress the material into dense and uniform wood pellets.

Before pelletizing, the dried material enters hydraulic bins for temporary storage and buffering. Distribution screw conveyors at the top ensure even material distribution, while hydraulic discharge at the bottom provides a stable material supply.

The material is then transported by belt conveyor into a twin-shaft equalizing bin, where it is further distributed before entering the pellet mills.

Under pressure and friction, the fine wood particles are compressed into dense and uniform pellets. The pellet mills provide efficient and stable pelletizing performance, helping maintain consistent pellet quality and continuous production.

Auxiliary Equipment and Supporting Systems

In addition to the four core equipment sections, the production line includes a complete range of auxiliary equipment for material conveying, storage, screening, cooling, weighing and process control.

  • Central Dust Collection System: Collects dust generated during production, improving workshop cleanliness and safety

  • PLC Control Cabinet and Monitoring System: Provides centralized control and real-time monitoring of the entire production line.

  • Vibrating Conveyor: Continuously conveys raw rubber wood.

  • Twin-Shaft Feeder: Provides uniform feeding to the hammer mill.

  • Metal Removal System: Removes metal contaminants and protects critical equipment.

  • Rotary Screen: Screens crushed material and controls particle size.

  • Hydraulic Bins: Provide temporary storage and buffering for stable feeding.

  • Distribution Screw Conveyor: Evenly distributes material inside the hydraulic bin system.

  • Twin-Shaft Equalizing Bin: Further equalizes material before feeding pellet mills.

  • Pellet Cooler: Reduces the temperature of freshly produced pellets and improves product stability.

  • Vibrating Screen: Removes fines and undersized pellets.

  • Belt Scale: Accurately measures production output and provides clear production data.

  • 48-Meter Conveyor: Continuously transports finished pellets to the downstream section.

  • 96-Meter Mobile Discharge Conveyor: Delivers pellets directly to the finished-product storage area.

Complete Rubber Wood Pellet Production Process

Designed specifically for the high moisture content and large production requirements of rubber wood in Thailand, this project integrates material preparation, crushing, drying, pelletizing and finished-product handling into one complete system.

Each production line is equipped with one wood chipper, one hammer mill, one large rotary drum dryer and three pellet mills, supported by comprehensive conveying, storage, dust collection and automation systems for stable and efficient pellet production from high-moisture rubber wood.

For customers planning a large-scale wood pellet project, this 120,000-ton-per-year Thailand installation provides a practical reference for designing a high-moisture rubber wood pellet production line.
