This corn cob pellet production project is designed to process both dry and wet corn cobs for biomass fuel pellet production. The moisture content of the wet material is approximately 30–35%. The project is planned to accommodate different raw material conditions and support stable, continuous production.
The full design capacity is up to 20 tons per hour, with a Phase 1 output of approximately 10 tons per hour. This capacity plan meets the initial production requirements while allowing room for future expansion.

The project handles both dry and wet corn cobs, with the wet material containing approximately 30–35% moisture. Because the two types of raw materials have different physical conditions, the production line adopts a separate crushing configuration.
Two Hammer Mills are installed independently: one for dry corn cobs and the other for wet corn cobs. Each hammer mill has a processing capacity of approximately 10–15 TPH, allowing the two material streams to be processed according to their respective conditions.
This separate crushing system helps provide more consistent material conditions for downstream processing and creates a more stable feedstock for the drying and pelletizing stages.
The independent crushing configuration is one of the key features of this corn cob pellet production line, allowing the process to accommodate different raw material conditions within one complete production system.
After crushing, the wet corn cobs are transferred to the drying section. The project is equipped with a 2.5 × 24 m Rotary Drum Dryer for processing wet material.
The rotary drum dryer removes excess moisture from the crushed corn cobs and adjusts the material condition for the subsequent pelletizing process. By providing a dedicated drying stage for wet corn cobs, the system helps maintain more stable material conditions before pelletizing.
The drying system is integrated with the upstream crushing and downstream pelletizing sections to support continuous material flow throughout the production line.
After crushing and drying, the prepared corn cob material is transferred directly to the pelletizing section for further processing. The section is equipped with six XGJ850 pellet machines operating in parallel, forming the core of the pellet production system.
The complete line is designed for a total output of up to 20 tons per hour, while the currently completed Phase 1 operates at approximately 10 tons per hour. An individual XGJ850 pellet machine typically produces around 3–4 tons per hour, although actual output may vary depending on the raw material and operating conditions.
For corn cob pelletizing, factors such as moisture content, particle size, material preparation, and operating conditions can affect production performance. Therefore, the actual capacity of the complete production line depends on both the pellet machine configuration and the condition of the prepared material.
With six XGJ850 pellet machines working in parallel, the system provides sufficient pelletizing capacity for the project's phased production plan. The processed material is formed into biomass fuel pellets and then transferred to the cooling, screening, and packing sections for further processing.
After pelletizing, the freshly formed biomass pellets enter the cooling system to reduce their temperature and improve their stability for subsequent handling, storage, and transportation.
The cooled pellets then pass through the screening system, where undersized or unqualified particles are separated from the finished pellets. This process helps maintain more consistent pellet sizing and product quality.
After screening, qualified biomass pellets are transferred to the packing system for convenient storage, handling, and transportation.
The cooling, screening, and packing stages complete the downstream processing of the corn cob pellets and prepare the finished product for delivery.
The complete production line is equipped with dust and steam removal systems to support a cleaner and better-ventilated workshop environment.
Dust generated during crushing, conveying, and material handling is managed through the dust removal system, helping reduce dust accumulation around the production equipment.
Steam generated during the pelletizing process is managed through the steam removal system, helping discharge excess moisture and hot air from the workshop.
The system improves ventilation and helps maintain a cleaner, drier, and more comfortable production environment.
Multiple hydraulic bins are installed between the material preparation and pelletizing sections to provide temporary material storage and buffering. Since the output rate of upstream processes such as crushing and drying cannot always match the feeding demand of the pellet mills, the hydraulic bins temporarily store prepared corn cob material and ensure a continuous material supply. Through the hydraulic pushing mechanism, the bins help reduce bridging of fluffy materials while continuously and evenly feeding material into the pellet mills, minimizing fluctuations in feeding and providing a stable buffer zone between the upstream material preparation system and the downstream pelletizing system.
